So I’m going to do a post about the best night of my life :) this is very long, so feel free to skip past.

A week has past and I’m still so depressed about it all being over, and not having that buzz of being in the crowd, listening to my favourite band. So I decided to write a post about how mint it was.

So we set off early Monday morning, and got to Manchester at 1:30. We met Adam at 2, and walked like a mile and a half to our travel lodge. We got to the travel lodge, booked in, and then decided to see how far away the venue was. It was literally round the corner from our travel lodge, which was awesome. Our street was proper rough, I googled it, and the first thing to come up was a news report about a knife stabbing. Haha. Me being from the country side, and the middle of nowhere cities are scary. I might be living there by myself in September! So scary. Any ways, we got to the venue just in time because we could hear Deftones doing a sound check, and that was exciting, it really got us buzzin for the gig. We went back to the room, had some munch, and got ready. As I was getting ready I tweeted Sergio, and he replied!! I was so buzzin, Sergio, SERGIO from Deftones was replying to my tweets. I was so excited, jumping around the room going “look, look Nicky, LOOK!!!” So off we went on a massive high, queued for 45 minutes, and went in. Then the first support band started playing, three trapped tigers. I wasn’t really a fan of their music, I think it would be ok recorded, but just wasnt my thing live. The drummer was really good though! Half way through their set, I was getting a bit bored and spent most of the time with my back to the band, being nosey looking at people in the crowd, and looking at what they were wearing haha. I’m so glad I did though!! I turned to the left, and seen this dude Gilbert, who I didn’t know at the time but I’ve had a little chat with him on Facebook since. Next to Gilbert was Abe, yes ABE, the drummer from Deftones. I turned to Nicky and said ‘doesn’t that guy look like Abe, he’s the spitting image’ then Nicky went ‘shit it is, it’s Abe’. We didn’t really know what to do. No one noticed, how the hell did no one else notice him. 99% of people were there for Deftones, so how no one noticed him I do not know. Abe then turned around to go back, and Nicky sort of chased him, tapped him on the should and was like ‘HEY’. They had a little chat, and I was just staring at him thinking ‘oh Jesus what do I do’. Then when he went, he shook Nickys hand, went to shake mine and I just went ‘can I have a cuddle?’ which he definitely wouldn’t have heard, so it just came across like I’d pounced on him. Which to be fair I did. I just wish we’d gotten a photo, but I didn’t have my phone on me, or a camera, which was the first Deftones gig I didn’t bring it to as I couldn’t be arsed to look after it. This is a long post, and it’s going to get longer ;)

So the second support band started, and I wasn’t really into them either. The singer however was a mental case, but he was so entertaining, and I quite enjoyed watching him front flip around and destroy the drum kit. It was then Deftones turn!!!! I managed to worm my way to the middle third row, leaving Nicky and Adam about 2 rows behind me. They started and as always the crowd went mental!! It was amazing, I love how much energy everyone has, in the crowd, and the band. I managed to last two songs at the front but I was just battered, I was so squished, and it wasn’t very enjoyable. So I decided to find Nicky and Adam, but they were nowhere to be seen haha. So I went and moshed with this guy who had awesome dreadlocks. I then walked into a mosh pit, ran away from it, got crowd surfed on, and then found a nice space to return to enjoying myself. I could then see Nicky and Adam, so I wiggled my way over to them. Adam wanted to go a bit further back, sort of in the middleish so we could get a better sound, and it was really worth it. The past two times we’ve seen them we just went mental, but this time we really enjoyed and listened to the middle of the set. Then after we’d rehydrated, we went back into the craziness and went mental haha. Man it was amazing, I danced and sang/shouted my heart out. Last few songs were insane!

Sooo after it was over, we were all obvious on a super high, and went to sit outside for five. We were going to wait around for them to come out, but we were like nahh lets just go. They might not have came out for hours, and it was freezing cold. As we were walking away we sort of walked into Stephen, and their cool roadie, it was unreal. It was like a dream! I’ve dreamed about meeting deftones a lot, so yeah it was weird. So we walked along the street with him, and Nicky is so cool in those situations, I made a fool of myself going ‘come back to ours for a party’ haha what?! Who says that, he’s obviously not going to. Then we were outside of a shop talking for like 15 minutes. He was complaining about Abe haha, but we were all having a normal conversation, it was great!! We then got our photos with him, and skipped off absolutely buzzin. We didn’t even know what to think about it! We met two members from our favourite band, and I tweeted Sergio! The first deftones gig I went to I touched Chino and got his sweat all over me! I’d love to meet them all, properly, get photos and autographs from them all.

Ahhh what an amazing night man, I’m just so depressed I can’t do it again sooner. That dude Gilbert is such a legend, he followed them on this tour, and a few others. So he’s gotten friendly with the band, he seems like such a cool guy. I’m pretty jealous of his life to be honest. I don’t think anyone is going to read this because it’s pretty long winded, but I like to write stuff like this.
